SOUTHERN TIER CORVETTE CLUB BYLAWS
ARTICLE I. Name
The name of this organization shall be the "Southern Tier Corvette Club of New York, Inc."
(S.T.C.C.), a Type A Corporation under section 201 of the New York State Not-For-Profit
Corporation Law."
ARTICLE II. Purpose
The purpose of the Southern Tier Corvette Club shall be to provide an organization for
enjoyment of persons sharing a common interest in the Corvette automobile through
participation in social, competitive, and community service activities. Through member
association and the newsletter, members may share ideas and realize benefit to themselves and
their communities.
ARTICLE III. Membership and Dues
- Membership
- Members shall be persons who seek to achieve the purpose stated in Article II and
shall consist of:
a. PRIMARY: Member of S.T.C.C.
b. SPOUSE OR SIGNIFICANT OTHER of Primary Member
c. DEPENDENT: Child of Primary Member, under age 21
d. LIFETIME: Qualifying N.C.C.C. Lifetime Member - No S.T.C.C. lifetime
membership is available.
- Membership and Voting Privileges: All members may hold office and vote on all
business.
- Membership Records: The Secretary shall maintain a record of each member which
shall contain the following information:
a. Name of member
b. Type of membership
c. Address
d. Telephone number
e. Corvette year(s) owned
- All members shall become members of N.C.C.C. upon joining the club.
- All members shall receive a membership card with membership period denoted.
- Dues
- Costs per membership category, as follows:
- The annual dues for a new PRIMARY member shall be $10 more than the
annual dues for a new N.C.C.C. PRIMARY member. The annual dues for
a renewing PRIMARY member shall be $20 more than the annual dues for a
renewing N.C.C.C. PRIMARY member.
- The annual dues for a new or a renewing SPOUSE OR SIGNIFICANT
OTHER member shall be $10 more than the annual dues for a new or a
renewing N.C.C.C. SPOUSE member.
- The annual dues for a new or a renewing DEPENDENT member shall be the
same as the annual dues for a new or a renewing N.C.C.C. DEPENDENT
member.
- One-time dues for N.C.C.C. LIFETIME membership are currently $300,
subject to change at N.C.C.C. discretion. Annual S.T.C.C. dues of $10 for
the first year and $20 for renewal are still applicable.
- Dues shall be payable before October 1 and a due notice shall be sent to all
members one month in advance.
- Dues are non-refundable.
- Any member who's dues are not received by October 15 shall be dropped from the
membership roll for the following year.
- New members who join the club after September 1, shall be credited membership
through the following year.
ARTICLE IV. Officers
The following officers shall be selected by election:
- President: the chief executive officer of the club.
Shall:
- Preside over meetings and oversee the operations of the club.
- See that the club operates within the established purpose and fiscal constraints.
- With the assistance of the Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Governor, and
Advisor, prepare an annual budget for the following calendar year.
- Promote the best interests of the club among it's members and throughout the
community.
- Vice President
Shall:
- Preside over meetings in the absence of the President and succeed to the office of
President in the event of vacancy in that office.
- Assist the President in overseeing the operation of the club, including the promotion
of club events and assistance with programs.
- Secretary
Shall:
- Make a record of the proceedings of all meetings and maintain a bound minute book
for that purpose.
- Read the minutes of meetings and make them available for inspection upon the
request of any member in good standing.
- Maintain membership records as stated in Article III, Section A.3.
- Publish a monthly newsletter as provided in Article VIII.
- Issue a membership card to each member in good standing.
- Provide local Chevrolet dealerships with a current list of club members names and
addresses.
- Treasurer
Shall:
- Receive all moneys and bills and keep an accurate accounting of those items in a
bound record book.
- Deposit receipts to club accounts.
- Make payment of authorized bills upon the club approval of the membership and
signature, in the bound record book, by the President or presiding officer at the
meeting.
- Maintain accurate financial records and report on their status at each regular meeting.
- Advisor
Shall:
- Advise the President on matters relating to the operation and organization of the club.
- Assist the President in the conduct of programs.
- Governor
Shall:
- Serve as liaison with the N.C.C.C. and participate regularly in Regional meetings and
National meetings, as appropriate.
- Encourage and promote N.C.C.C. membership, as well as competition within the
club and with other clubs.
- Advise the President on matters relating to N.C.C.C.
ARTICLE V. Executive Committee
- The Executive Committee shall consist of the elected officers of the club.
- The Executive Committee may meet to discuss programs, policies, or courses of action for
the club not addressed by the Bylaws. Those matters usually consist of changing dates,
events, changing cost of events, disciplinary matters, and decisions on inter-club matters.
- Decisions made by the Executive Committee must be communicated to the general
membership.
ARTICLE VI. Election of Officers
- The term of office shall be one year, beginning on January 1 and ending December 31 of
each year.
- Officers shall be nominated at the regular club meeting in October. Any member in good
standing may be nominated for an office.
- No member shall serve in the office of President or Vice President for more than two
consecutive terms, unless no others member is willing to serve in that office and the
incumbent officer is willing to serve another term.
- No member may serve in more than one elected office at once.
- Ballots shall be sent to the membership during November, for counting and announcement of
results at the Annual Meeting in December.
- Outgoing officers shall assist in an orderly transition of business to the new officers at the end
of the term in office.
ARTICLE VII. Meetings
- Regular meetings shall be held on the second Tuesday of each month.
- The meeting time, date, and place can be changed upon passage of a motion by a majority of
members present at a regular meeting.
- All members must be given sufficient notice of meeting dates, times, and places in the club
newsletter.
- The Annual Meeting shall be held in December. Officer reports, committee reports, and the
next year's calendar of events shall be presented to the membership.
- No business may be conducted at a regular meeting unless there is a quorum of six members,
including the President or Vice President and one other elected officer.
- Meeting shall follow the Rules of Conduct contained in Robert's Rules of Order.
ARTICLE VIII. Newsletter
- A newsletter shall be published monthly and shall provide sufficient notice to all members of
the date, time, and place of the next regular meeting and upcoming events.
- The newsletter is the responsibility of the Secretary, but a member may be appointed as the
Editor.
- The newsletter shall be sent to all active members and automobile clubs having an interest in
the newsletter.
ARTICLE IX. Bylaws
- The Southern Tier Corvette Club shall operate according to these adopted Bylaws.
- Bylaws may be amended by a two-thirds vote of the members present at a regular meeting
after they have been introduced at a regular meeting, published in the newsletter, and have
laid over for a period of thirty days from the date they were introduced.
